AAAuwish's BIRDS!!

AAAuwish writes: Buddy is the green/orange bird's name. She died a short time ago and we’re not sure what happened. She was fine and within two hours we found her gone. I cannot remember everything she said, but she said things like: hello, pretty bird, here kitty-kitty, shut up and she beeped like the microwave timer.

Squiggles, the large Macaw, who gets her name from her crooked beak, was deformed when she was born. We had to hand feed her all the way through. Now she is like 8 years old and can eat on her own. She says: MOM, I love you and RRRRoof. She knows my name and answers questions accurately.

Pretty Girl doesn't say anything, but if you fall asleep in the living room she walks past all the dogs and will get up on your chest and watch you sleep. The people we got her from said she was mean and would bite, but she just loves to be held and put her head under your chin.

Duxbee's Sam Siam.......

Duxbee says: I would love to share my pictures of Sam Siam with you and the pet lovers in here..He is a wonderful Snowshoe Siamese that my husband and I adopted 4 years ago. He had been abused and was in a shelter and then went to a foster home that we adopted him from.

I happened to see him on line and knew I had to have him. I am a sucker for all God's creatures. He came with the name Sam Siam, and seemed to answer to it so we didn't change it.

Hulahula's Roxy....

Hulahula says: Only about 6 weeks old in this picture, although Roxy is a year old now. Still a monster and can she chew! A 12 inch rawhide bone lasts her about 2-3 hours only. My daughter thought she was being kind when she purchased the "indestructible" dog ball for her.....it was destroyed in 2 hours. She has already chewed up her dog bed and blanket, but luckily she seems to chew only what belongs to her. So far, so good on the leather furniture....

Klassy's Bandit and Diogi

The original Klassy Bandit. Kinda short, kinda fat, kinda cuddly, kinda ornery… but he’s my baby. Any man that comes into my life will have to get Bandit’s approval.

Diogi. Aka, the amazing vanishing dog! (fell into a sink hole) Came to be with me after being rescued from idiotic animal abusers. He still has some problems, but he’s come a long way. He’s learning to love and learning that he is loved.

AAAuwish's Pudgey

AAAuwish writes: This is pudgy. This poor dog has been through 4 families and been through a lot. He has had 3 names but listens well to his name. When we received him in may, he was having problems holding food down. We were told he had allergies to plastic. After a few months, we received papers that stated when he was a puppy he had ate some wires and hooks out of the previous owners garage. We took all the paper work with us and took him to our vet because he was losing a lot of weight and not able to keep food down. Our vet took x-rays and said he had a blockage and what looked like a ball of yarn in him. When he got inside him in surgary he found his intestines were dying off due to the previous surgary and he was slowly dying. The ball of yarn he thought he had was actually his intestines. He never thought he would make it through the weekend, but he is a strong willed dog and he has come out fantastic. It cost us a fortune but he has gained about 15 lbs in a month and is very active and happy now. He loves to play and is a lovng addition to our family.

Chester's Chester

Big Chester writes:

Chester has been with me since he was a puppy and arrived home sleeping in a laundry basket, all tucked in and covered with a blanket. He currently weighs about 50 pounds at age five and is perhaps the world's biggest rat terrier. He is a special strain of his breed known as a Decker Giant, making him almost twice the size of a standard type. He is lightening quick, extremely agile, quite aggressive when hunting, and doesn't miss a trick. He is cute with a natural little tail, and a perfectly symmetrical tri-colored face and a saddle patch on his back. So far he has eliminated all woodchucks, squirrels, and moles from the yard, as well as anything else that may wander through his territory. He is happy to be rid of the e-collar and his life seems to be getting back to normal. He is a very good boy, extremely loyal, and great fun to have around.

Help Name TP's New Pup !

TruthPolice wrote to say: "I've had him for about a week and still haven't named him. He is ten weeks old and a Longhaired Mini-Dachshund. Very sweet but also has a little temper (like his owner?) I am open to name suggestions from the forum members."

hol99's Gunner

This handsome devil is officially named "Turicks Semper Fi", but I just call him Gunner. He is what is called a Belgian Malinois (mal-in-wah). I bought him sight unseen from a lady in New Hampshire and he arrived in Las Vegas on a plane in October of '99 at the tender young age of 10 weeks old. He's a great dog, lives mostly under my feet, is smart as a whip and loves everybody.

Chester's Boone

Chester sends this picture of his yellow lab "Boone" and sends us this note:

Boone was quite simply the best living creature I've ever known. He was that good. I met Boone when he was 8 1/2 years old and had the pleasure of his company until he passed away when he was 12. His previous owner raised him from a puppy and eventually had to find him a new home so he could be outside more often and have more room to play. Soon after welcoming Boone to his new home I found him to be very well trained, extremely well behaved, and able to do various tricks. They say yellow labs are utilized as seeing-eye dogs more than any other and now I know why. Boone was like a person disquised as a dog. He was friendly, smart, and quite the retriever. He was the best dog there has ever been, and whenever I need some guidance, I wonder what Boone would do in such a situation. He will forever be with me in spirit.

LOLatGOP's Lucky, Yuri and Miles

Lucky is a dog I found on the street when she was just a puppy. After being unable to identify an owner, my plan was to "find a good home" for her. Six years later, I still have not gotten around to that. It might be too late.

Yuri is a Mali uromastyx. Like all reptiles of his kind, he is a vegetarian and likes things hot. He spends a big part of the day basking under his heat lamp. Yuri eats mostly greens and some fruit, and is a pleasant little guy -- OK about being held and will eat out of my hand.

This is Miles, who, like his namesake, is one cool cat. He mainly hangs with my wife, though. He likes me, but less than he likes her.

TINSC's Tovah - The NEW Rally Cat!!

TINSC says of Tovah, the NEW rally cat: "Like a duck to water! We put her in front of the TV and the Tigers got a double play to get out of a tough inning." Well done, Tovah!!

Reticulatus's Willy the Woma

Reticulatus sends us a picture of his Woma python and says: "His name is Willy the Woma. He is still pretty young. He is a pretty expensive little guy, costing about $1000. He enjoys basking in his light, eating mice, and hissing at me when I wake him up. He is a strange little guy. He likes to drag his mice under his log and eat them there so I can't see him. I will send some more pics of other snakes later."

Mr. Manners' Oscar

Mr. Manners writes: This is Oscar and he is about ten years old. He came to us from the animal shelter about six years ago. He was abused and skinny, had scars and was minus fur in spots when we got him. He loves to eat and sleep...much like me. He also likes human food. He is very intelligent....again, taking after his owner. Oscar loves to chase squirrels, once catching one with fatal results for the little furball.

I restored most of this '62 Vette myself over the past several years. A former drag racing car with 36,000 original miles, it was setting for sixteen years in storage before I bought it and brought it back to life in it's original form.

AuntAgonist's Rogue and Rascal...

Rogue and Rascal

Rascal (Black and White) thinks Rogue is his mommy. We found Rogue at the Cascades Humane Society and fell in love with him right away, he was so tiny. Rascal was a feral rescue and is 3 years younger than Rogue. Born to a barn cat one of 5 kittens. We have his brother Blackie too. The other 3 kittens were all placed in good homes.

Ado - Longs Peak...

Ado says: Since there is some interest in the forum about Colorado and Rockey Mtn. Nat'l Park, here's a couple from the trail up Longs Peak in the park. Not taken on the same hike. One my head was shaved cuz my 2nd youngest had his shaved to make a classmate feel better about going thru chemo-therapy. I told him I'd do it if he would. Other pic from a later attempt is on the North face of Longs Peak, a few hundred yards past the keyhole.

Ado's Climb .....

Ado sends this pic from a hike he did in CA, in the Mokelumne River Wilderness Area of Eldorado Nat'l Forest('Bout 40 miles SW of Lake Tahoe).
The pic is taken in the notch between the twin peaks of Round Top Mtn. It's a nice day hike, access from State Route 88. The trail-head is from the Woods Lake campground area.

A very scenic hike of limited difficulty, until you approach the summit, then there is a lot of scrambling. Pic is of my climbing partner going up from the bottom of the notch between the peaks. Once you attain the summit there is a very nice vista of Lake Tahoe to the Northeast.

Adlib sends these pics....

From Adlib, comes these two pics, and a few more. For the Michigan snow-impaired, these were taken by Dadlib (out cross-country skiing) behind Wheeler Peak in the Taos Ski Valley, late Fall. The second is Taos Ski Valley from behind the summit of Wheeler Peak, the highest elevation in NM - over 13,000 ft.

Trackman's Nitro......

Nitro, an English Bulldog, came to us when he was about three. He's an 11 year old, 55 pound chunk of pure love. We have had bulldogs before, and the bulldog rescue contacted us through a friend. We still can't figure out why they didn't want him. Lucky for us, because he has been a great dog. He loves kids, sleeping, and....sleeping.

jennythewart's Jack.....

Jack was the best dog I ever had. I remember he rescued a baby squirrel once. There was a squirrel that used to tease him every day. It would sit on the picnic table in the backyard and chatter at him. When we would let Jack out he would chase the squirrel around. Then he'd come back in, and the squirrel would be right back chattering at him. One day Jack wouldn't come in. We went out and found that a baby squirrel had fallen out of the tree. Jack was standing guard over it, protecting it. Kind of a dumb story, but he was so kind and gentle. Best dog I ever had.

Kayemache's TRIBE .....

Ginger is one of the coolest cats I know. She was a stray, I found her outside of my work when I was in high school, and took her home from there. She thinks she's a dog though - she beats on other dogs and will greet people at the door. Here she's in her t-shirt, surprisingly it didn't bother her too much.

Toonsie hails from a pet store - hubby bought her when he was in high school. She's a really sweet cat, and very smart too. She's much shyer than Ginger though, she usually hides when people come over unless it's someone who frequently comes over.

Lucy is a 6 year old Miniature Pinscher who was used for breeding. She's just now learning how to trust people - so far I'm about the only person she trusts. She adores my 3 year old niece though. We just got her a year ago this Christmas.

Misty is an 11 year old American Eskimo that I adopted from a second cousin who does dog rescuing years ago. She's a spoiled brat who can hear her cookie cabinet opening from miles away :)

jiMbabwe1's Windry....

Windry is her name, shredding is her game. She is a Pure bred Shiba Inu that we "rescued" this past May, just after her first birthday. She loves to play in the snow, run up hills and down hills and back up.... She is stubborn, playful, vocal and loving, but not real cuddly. She will shred a squeaky toy and kill the "squeaker," in a matter of minutes.

TINSC's Rally Cat...

This is TINSC's "Rally Cat". Everytime she watches the Tigers, they rally and kick Ass. You can view other photos at:

http://photos.yahoo.com/thereisnosantaclaus

Works for the Tigers and other cat-teams. But for some reason, she has no interest in the Lions... as should be obvious.

vannawhite's Heidi ....

This is Heidi. She is going on four years old. I previously had a male German Shepherd who lived 14 years and was a sweetie, so I wanted to get another one someday. A week after our garage was broken into, my husband and I decided it was time, so we drove to a breeder north of Flint and picked out Heidi (after an extensive 2-hour interview!) when she was six weeks old. She is totally spoiled, barks at little kids and old people who walk by our house, UPS drivers and squirrels and has a Golden Retriever boyfriend next door. Her favorite place is on the couch, as you can see by the photo.

TruthPolice’s Satchmo …

Satchmo was our longhaired mini Dachshund who died a couple of months ago at the age of 17.5 years, and will be greatly missed. You can see the love in his eyes; he was a great great dog, much bigger than his small size and full of humor, spirit, and love. Here’s wishing a very Merry Christmas to all my MLive friends.

hulahula's Hannah .....

This is our Samoyed, Hannah, who came into our lives as a pup that no one wanted. Although she was a purebred Samoyed, she was the runt of a litter of 8, and too small to ever be bred. Hannah was misshapen, but it never mattered to us. Although blind since birth Hannah adapted very well to her home environment. She learned quickly to push my daughter off the bed at night and to keep it all to herself. It was not unusual to go to wake my daughter to find her sleeping on the floor and Hannah in her bed. This was her Christmas photo from 2005 and she stayed with us until July of 2006. She lived past her 17th birthday. We miss her every day.

Ado's Dylan...

This is Dylan, named after Bob soon after we got him at seven weeks because he was crying and wailing in the van on the way home. Soon as we popped in a tape of Dylan's Nashville Skyline, he quieted down and went to sleep so youngest son named him. He is the most pampered Whippet Hound in the universe I think. He acts more like a kid than any of my kids do. He will cry endlessly if I close a door and keep him out of a room. He is the most people dependent/loving critter I have ever had in the house. We have had other dogs, but nothing like this guy. Wifie use to have a kennel and bred Springer Spaniels and Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Dylan is a family member, those were all kennel dogs.

StrongBadToo's Smoke ...

Smoke was a rescue dog found running the streets of Detroit. His first rescue owner who owned multiple dogs, gave Smoke back in frustration unable to manage the energetic Weimaraner. Smoke was an escape artist, able to beat most latches and open any door including the refrigerator. Smoke is pictured above playing a favorite game of "Keep Away".

Sgt.Rock's Maddie and Angel ...

Maddie and Angel are AKC-Champion bloodline Golden Retrievers with an uncanny ability to sniff bullshit. Whenever Sgt Rock is reading posts from Dove, athomme, Trackman, or 4west, Angel growls uncontrollably, and Maddie pees on the floor. Likewise, when conservative posts are being read, they sit at attention in homage to the pure brilliance of the poster.

(Ed - I don't write 'em.)

BrokePhiBrok's Sophie ...

Sofie, aka Brown Pants, is a Chocolate Lab bought from a breeder in Elizabeth, CO. Sofie likes to drive around Boulder in a Subaru, and goes to Doggie Day Care. Sofie likes typical Lab stuff like retrieving and swimming. Sofie has hiked to 12,000 feet, but is pissed she can't climb Longs Peak as dogs are not allowed in Rocky Mountain National Park. While Sofie has never been to Michigan, she looks forward to drinking its cool waters one day.
